The Two Great Commandments
“Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength... Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”
Mark 12:30–31Covenants are sacred promises made with God through Jesus Christ. The nine sacred covenants of the True Church are founded upon the two great commandments.
God repeatedly declares His covenant promise in the Holy Scriptures: if His people obey His voice, keep His covenant, sanctify themselves, and walk in His ways, they shall be His people and He will be their God.
“Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength... Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”
Mark 12:30–31“If ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant... ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation.”
Exodus 19:5–6“I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be my people.”
Leviticus 26:12Members of the True Church of Jesus Christ are invited to enter into sacred covenants with God through Jesus Christ.
Through these sacred promises, we commit ourselves to a life of commitment which brings us closer to Jesus Christ.
We covenant to take upon ourselves the name of Jesus Christ, striving to represent Him, become like Him through our actions, and live according to His teachings contained in the Holy Scriptures.
We covenant to be baptized for the remission of sins, by a priest of the Order of Jesus Christ, as the first ordinance of salvation, on the path to becoming like Jesus Christ.
The covenant of baptism is available to all willing and repentant men, women, and children beyond the age of 5 for the remission of sins, forgiveness, and entrance upon the covenant path toward Jesus Christ.
We covenant to obey all of God’s commandments, as outlined in the Holy Scriptures, and to follow the guidance of the living prophet and apostles.
We shall tirelessly strive for personal, humble perfection in the image of Jesus Christ, in accordance with His instructions, which are contained in the Holy Scriptures.
We covenant to devote every possible free moment to reading, studying, and living the precepts and the higher law taught by Jesus Christ, which are contained in the Holy Scriptures.
We covenant to learn all we can from the entirety of the Holy Scriptures, endeavoring to share it with each other and with all of the children of men who listen in earnest.
We covenant to live the law of chastity, striving to be personally pure and chaste in all areas of life.
We covenant to be one in all things, both spiritual and temporal — first in our families, then in the faith, and finally in our communities.
We covenant to be pure, perfect, and honest with each other and to dedicate our time, talents, and resources to Jesus Christ, and to building God’s kingdom on the earth.
We covenant to share all things wherein we have the ability to do so, for the salvation and exaltation of all Saints and our families.
We, priests of The Order of Jesus Christ, covenant to take upon us the ancient and sacred keys of the Holy Priesthood. These keys include:
We, worthy male Saints, covenant to enter the Holy Priesthood, of the Order of The Son of God.
Men are offered the priesthood, and ordained by current high priests who hold the keys of authority to perform the ordinances.
There are two priesthoods to be had: the Levitical priesthood is for all worthy males over the age of 8, who have been baptized and are worthy Saints. The higher priesthood of The Order of Jesus Christ, is for all worthy males over the age of 18, who have committed their lives to Jesus Christ. To hold this priesthood, men shall be happily married, shall first hold the Levitical priesthood and shall be devoted and active Saints.
We covenant to devote all of our energy, time and resources towards building Zion on the earth.
Zion shall be built after the order of the ancient Zion of Enoch, which was taken up to the heavens by the Lord, so as to reserve it for its return in the last days. The Zion of earth shall be built to celestial specifications, as a mirroring vessel which shall serve as a literal and spiritual aligning structure, which will physically receive the city of Enoch when it descends from the heavens.
We covenant to build the literal Jerusalem in the land of Israel, the lands belonging to the ancient children of Israel. The city of Jerusalem shall be built to celestial specifications at the direction of the living prophet and the Holy Priesthood.
The covenant path is an essential part of the journey towards Heavenly Father. Without our covenants, we can easily become lost and confused in a world which continually fights against Jesus Christ.
Learn how sacred covenants connect us to Jesus Christ.
A covenant with God is a sacred promise made through Jesus Christ. Through covenant, disciples promise to obey His voice, walk in His ways, receive His word, and become His people.
Covenants are central because they bind disciples to Jesus Christ, teach obedience, establish holy order, and prepare God’s people to live according to His commandments.
Baptism is the first ordinance of salvation and entrance upon the covenant path. Through baptism, repentant disciples covenant to follow Jesus Christ and receive a remission of sins according to His authority.
Sacred ordinances and covenants must be administered according to divine authority. The Holy Priesthood preserves order, administers ordinances, teaches scripture, and preaches the covenant path of Jesus Christ.
The nine sacred covenants teach disciples to take upon the name of Jesus Christ, study and live the gospel, and strive to become one in Christ.
