The Book of Commandments
The Book of Commandments Section 10 - Prophets
Prophets are called by the Lord to bring souls unto remembrance and to guide the lost sheep back home.
There are of a certainty, many prophets in the world - many who have fought and died for the great and noble causes set before them, inspired by the Lord, to bring the children of men back unto remembrance. Prophets are alive today, but they do not always call themselves prophets.
Moreover, those who call themselves prophets are not always who they claim to be, nay they are not all from me.
The spirit of prophecy exists within the hearts and souls of all Saints - for I, the Lord wrote my commandments upon all of your hearts.
There will be great contention come to pass when the words you shall write come forth unto men. They will fight in their sins. Nevertheless, my words shall come forth. The stone which the builders rejected is the same as the corner. A stone not hewn by hands.
Prophets do not have the ability to foresee the future. In and of themselves, prophets are mere men; albeit sons of God. Nevertheless, they are men who are pure and just, foreordained with the intelligence and sensitivities required for such an arduous and demanding calling.
Nay, prophets do not see the future, but are told by the Father the events which may come to pass. This gift is not to write the story, but to provide guidance and inspiration for the hearts and minds of their fellow man. To be the signpost of the most high God, offering choices for men; a path of righteousness or a path of condemnation. The latter to come about only if men do not repent.
Prophecy is not set in stone, yet only as a last resort if the words of the prophecy are not followed and taken to heart by all men.
May all men follow me with unwavering commitment to my word, my church, and to one another, in raising up Zion for the world.
Do not yield to temptation, my Saints; for great is the fall in it.
A man of God must increase always in purity, holiness, and charity, leaving behind the world and all things therein.
