Christ calls His people to become one. That command does not give leaders permission to manipulate people into belonging.
A healthy gathering can speak plainly about truth and still leave room for questions.
People should know what they are joining
Teaching and expectations should be clear before baptism or major commitment.
Hidden rules create dependence because members discover the real cost only after they have entered.
Conviction is not coercion
A church may say that Christ gave one faith and one baptism. The claim can be strong without becoming threatening.
Coercion begins when fear or dependency is used to overpower conscience.
Covenant must be chosen
Promises made to God should be made knowingly. A person should not fear losing housing or family support for asking for time.
The Lord invites. He does not need us to manufacture consent.

Authority needs boundaries
Leadership is necessary, but leaders do not own the faith of the people they serve.
Questions about decisions or money should not be treated as betrayal.

Truth does not require contempt
We can say that another church is wrong about something without saying that everyone in it is dishonest.
Gathering becomes sectarian when belonging is maintained by teaching members to despise outsiders.
Trust should grow at the speed of fruit
Healthy communities do not demand immediate emotional trust. They become trustworthy through service and accountability.
Christlike leaders are willing to be known before asking people to make costly promises.
