The Book of Commandments Section 24 - Baptism
1Thus Sayeth the Lord; I give unto you the sacred and Holy ordinance of baptism for the remission of sins in my name. The True Church of Jesus Christ, who is the Son of God, is henceforth tasked with the ordinances for the living, as a gift to all mankind.
2High Priests, after the order of the Son of God, shall offer the ordinance of baptism to all worthy and willing Saints who have chosen to take upon them my name.
3The baptism may be performed in any body of clean water under the heavens. The priest may choose to first consecrate the water at his discretion.
4Thus Sayeth the Lord; the priest shall stand beside the Saint who has chosen to be baptized, taking them in their arms in preparation for the baptism. The priest shall open with a prayer thanking the Lord. The priest shall recite as follows: By the authority of the high priesthood after the order of the Son of God, and in the name of Jesus Christ, I baptize you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. The priest shall then immerse the Saint fully in the water. After the Saint has re-emerged, the priest shall say “I say unto you, receive the Holy Ghost, Amen”.
5This ordinance is of the first and foremost ordinance of the new and everlasting covenant, administered to all willing Saints. It may only be performed by a high priest after the order of the Son of God, who is Jesus Christ. Amen.
