The Book of Commandments
Book of Commandments 44
Thus saith the Lord to all who call upon mine holy name; come unto the light. Gather your families and friends and forsake the darkness of this world. Gather yourselves and journey unto the light.
Thus saith the Lord; the heavens and the earth were created in seven days by the power of my Holy Word. The darkness was cut asunder and the light breached through, creating life and beauty as it went. The life that you all hold dear was created by the power of God and given to be a gift to all.
Thus saith the Lord; I call upon my saints to henceforth remember the light of creation; to keep a light burning in your homes, your places of worship and your places of work. Yea, keep the light. Let it shine as a reminder of the light from whence you all came, and of the light to which I pray you all return.
On the first day, God created the heavens and the earth, and all things therein. On this first day the light came forth and was separated from the darkness. The light was the Word, and the Word was the light and the life of all men.
Thus saith the Lord; on the first day of the week, which is Sunday, or the day of the sun, ye shall light a light in your lives. Be it a candle or any good light, it mattereth not, but a light it shall be. For light illuminates hidden darkness, and brings forth truth. And truth is the way which you must seek and live in all things.
Keep the light, my dear children. Let it shine in your lives as a reminder of the light which exists in you, which is the light of Jesus Christ, who is the author and the finisher of your faith.
As in the temples of old, keep the light burning. Keep it trimmed and bright. Guard it and know that it is holy. For where the light is, so shall the spirit of the Lord be.
On the first day, when you bring forth the light of salvation in your homes, say a prayer of thanks and blessings, to give hope to all who will hear and to all who will believe in my name. The seventh day of the week is the Sabbath day, which is the day of rest, but the first day is one of light, life and creation.
If a priest is present who is after the Order of the Son of God, he shall give the prayer in my name, as is his right and his station. He shall pray for all, with the authority which has been given him from his Father in Heaven. The saints shall hear his words which are given from me, for their direction, edification and salvation.
But the light is more important than the priest, and I give way so that all may say the prayer of the light in my name. For there may not always be a priest in your midst to guide you away from the darkness; but there can always be light.
Come unto the light my children. Forsake your sins and your lascivious ways and endeavour to become holy, even as I am, so that you may be able to withstand the glory of the light of Christ when it shall descend upon you. For light shall purge the darkness from all upon whom it falls, and the darkness shall not abide in the great and terrible day of the Lord.
Thus I have spoken, Amen.
