The Book of Commandments
The Book of Commandments Section 5 - Saints to Study Scriptures
1Thus sayeth the Lord; my Saints shall study scripture. They shall become as versed in my word as though it is their only language.
2If there is spare time in the life of a Saint, may it be spent reading and discussing the scriptures with their fellow Saints; not to discuss the validity of the scriptures, for this is sin, but to become expert in all scriptures. For the day shall soon come where the adversary shall begin to in any wise and distort my word for nefarious purposes, for no other reason than to drag my my Saints down with him and the angels of his rebellion.
3As I have commanded from the beginning; forsake all else. Be not idle with your time, but learn the truth of my word and of this world, so that Zion may be built up upon the earth for my return.
4There is much work to be done. No longer shall the spare time of my Saints be wasted. Thus I have spoken. Even so, Amen.
